21 + 1: The Fortune-teller’s Rules
I’ve got some exciting news that I want to share with you today. I’m so happy it’s ridiculous! But first, a little background…
Back in the 1990’s I created a huge shift in my life by taking a new spiritual path, one that continues to meander and wind through amazing territory. Part of this path included satiating my curiosity about tarot cards. I knew very little about them, but always thought they seemed beautiful and mystical and full of magic. So, I bought my first deck, and enrolled in a class that was sponsored by an online bookseller.
The cards seemed to speak to me very clearly, so, naturally more decks and more books were purchased. I was hooked. (To be clear, I’ve always been hooked on books, but now I was hooked on tarot as well!) I kept learning and I began a solid reading practice in 2001.
One author that became my absolute favorite is Rachel Pollack. I believe I have every book she has written on the tarot, and to this day hers are the books I continually turn to when I’m ready to learn more. I remember devouring her book Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom during a summer road trip in 2003, and it’s still one of my favorites and considered a tarot classic.
Early in 2016, I came across Camelia Elias, a woman who claimed to teach her card reading students to “read like the devil!” I had just begun studying the Lenormand oracle and I knew I had to reach out and become her student. From day 1 of learning from her I have not been disappointed! She is an amazing teacher and mentor.
I’ve read many books on tarot and cartomancy, and I continue to learn new systems and connect with new teachers and friends along the way. Still, Rachel’s books affected my life in a deep way, and having Camelia as a teacher continues to be a joy in my life.
So… I’m thrilled to be one of 37 authors of this brand new book – including Rachel Pollack and Camelia Elias. (omg) My essay AND one of my illustrations is included! (My mind is blown and I can’t stop smiling!)
The book is 21+1: The Fortune-Teller’s Rules, and although it contains “rules” for card readers, it really reads like a book of rules for life. In fact, upon release the book instantly became a #1 best seller in the category of “Zen Philosophy”. Which makes total sense to me, since “how you do anything, is how you do everything”, right? So if you have even a tiny interest in the cards (or in Zen philosophy!) I hope you’ll grab a copy!
AND…to celebrate the book release I’ve put together a special tarot offering for you. It’s a very sweet 5-card spread called “Juno’s Peacock” (in honor of my book contribution) that I created to bring you clarity in five different areas of your life. You can find out more and order your reading here.
Love & Magic,
Congratulations. Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful contribution. Zen, indeed. The book captures the minimalist wisdom of the fortune-teller, because, as they say, either you see it, or you don’t. And if you see it, you can put it succinctly. Your contribution rises to this occasion beautifully. Keep going.
Thank you Camelia – for the opportunity, for the expert teaching, and for your kind words – I deeply appreciate all of them. 🙂 xo
